In preparation for the weekend weather, the location for the Cook Off and Cornhole Tournament has changed to the Old School Gymnasium and Grounds behind the current Marion County School District Office at 719 North Main, the old Marion High School.
On Saturday, February 22, 2014 we will be producing our 5th Annual SWAMP FOX CHILI COOK OFF along with our first Cornhole Tournament..Accent Signs and Printing (ASAP) is the producer and organizer of this annual community event. HMRA, once again is the designated host of the event.
In four years the event has seen phenomenal growth with approximately 600 attendees in 2010 to over 1,800 in 2013. This year 2014, we are expecting attendance to be on the track to be well over 2,000 happy people. The success of this event is measured by the smiles, positive attitudes and the requests for more similar community events in the future. This year we are adding the Olde Towne Marion Cornhole Tournament.
Ticket sales are generated by local non-profit organizations. Local non-profits are given the opportunity to sell tickets for three weeks prior to the event and are allowed to keep 100% of the ticket sales for use in their organization. In 2013, twelve Marion County organizations participated and collectively earned over $8,000. This money stayed in the county and directly benefited the participating organizations.
